Edward J. Murphy, Jr. (Artistic Director, Drumcliffe Irish Arts) began studying Irish dance at the age of five and became an accomplished dancer by early adolescence. His love for dance led him to explore the art in forms other than Irish. He attended the State University of New York at Brockport where he majored in Dance and English. He has performed with several professional dance companies including Dance Theater of Arizona, The Arizona State Ballet, L.A. Dance Works, and Southwest Dance Theater. Eddie received his Masters Degree in Arizona before working for Maude Baum and Company Dance Theater. In 1987, Eddie earned his TCRG—certification to teach Irish Dance. In 1989, he founded The Murphy School of Irish Dance here in Rochester, later renamed Drumcliffe Irish Arts. In 1994, Eddie formed Drumcliffe Dance Troupe—a performing arts group consisting of youths studying with Drumcliffe Irish Arts. The troupe has developed a reputation for its professional performance standards, Murphy’s creative choreography, and high energy. Eddie is currently a Professor of Dance at the State University of New York at Brockport.

Michael Galvin started dancing at the age of six, and studied under the founder of Drumcliffe, Edward J. Murphy, Jr.  His dancing has won him many championships over the years, including several first place finishes at the Mid-Atlantic Region and the North American Championships.  At the age of 15, he received his first medal at the World Championships and went on to place 2nd in the World in 1999. His talent was recognized by Riverdance The Show, which Michael toured with, and served as the understudy for lead dancer. Michael attended SUNY Cortland where he majored in Health Science and Education, and received his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Nazareth College. Today, Michael teaches elementary school in Syracuse, and is the primary instructor for the Drumcliffe School in Syracuse
